Those are the opening lines of a wonderful song by the late Whitney Houston. If you like me, if you love me, let it be for who I am, as I am, says poet Riska Mukthar in this lyrical poem in Tamil which has been reproduced here with her prior permission alongside an English translation by moi:

என்னை நானே பணயம் வைத்து
இனி ஒருபோதும்
என் அன்பை
யாருக்கும்
நிரூபிக்கப்போவதில்லை
